Mosquito prevention goes beyond using your mosquito misting system. After heavy rainfall mosquitoe swarms can overwhelm you system making it harder to keep them under control. Here are some simple steps to that you can do to keep the mosquito population at bay in your own backyard.
1. One of the biggest things you can do is to dump or treat any areas with standing water. Remember that mosquitoes don't need but a little bit of water to lay thier eggs in so even just a teaspoon can be too much. Look for things like your kids toys, old tires, your plant bases, gutters (may need to be cleaned), basically just dump out any standing water you can find.
2. Make sure to treat your ponds and fountains as well with some sort of insecticide.
